MUSIC PLAYSCHOOL

Music Playschool is a fun three year music programme which begins between the ages of 4-6 years. We take advantage of your child's natural curiosity and openness to learning. Music Playschool optimises your child's natural ability to absorb musical concepts and aims for fluency in basic music skills in a fun, playful, safe and creative atmosphere. Singing, Solfège hand signs, imitation, repetition, musical notation, finger dexterity, creativity and composing are all important aspects of the Music Playschool programme.

THREE YEAR PROGRAMME CONTENT

YEAR 1- THE ROOTS

Semester 1 & 2

Sept.-Dec.


All classes are facilitated through fun games and songs. Students are introduced to the 5 lines and spaces of the staff, sing the major scale using solfège with hand signs, learn to keep a steady beat, match pitch, play melodies, and ostinati on tone bells, learn to play the three primary chords all while having lots of fun.


​Jan.-June

​

Students have fun and play games while they easily learn to divide and subdivide beats, read rhythmic notation patterns, distinguish major and minor tonalities, play steps and skips from the staff onto tone bells and other instruments.


YEAR 2- THE LEAVES

Semester 3 & 4

Sep.- Dec.


Your child will love the fun games and activities we use to introduce the keyboard, learn C position, identify and play intervals of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, play primary cadences on keyboard, accompany themselves on the keyboard.


Jan.- May

Students enjoy singing songs and playing keyboard in contrary motion, have fun learning the major scale, sing in harmony, learn more complex rhythmic notations, learn more names on the staff, learn the names of the white keys on the keyboard all while having fun!

YEAR 3- THE BRANCHES

Semester 5 & 6

Sept.-Dec.

Students learn all note names on the staff, identify accidentals, are introduced to transposing, play level 1 piano repertoire, learn about key signatures, ABA song form and much more!


Jan-May

​

Students learn to build and identify a triad, find the root in a triad, and invert triads. They learn 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures, more rhythmic notation and adding a chord to a melody, melodic dictation, compose their own piece to perform at a recital and much more!
